The history of the Grill Cleaning industry in the USA doesn’t date back very far. Maybe back to 1999/ 2000 or slightly sooner. We can’t trace the Grill Cleaning industry back to the 1800’s like we can window cleaning, maid services or chimney sweeps. It simply hasn’t been around that long.

Since there’s no history book or Wikipedia page dedicated to grill cleaning I can only make assumptions based on what I know or heard over the years.

Grill cleaning started in the UK and Australia well before it came to the US. In both countries there are a lot of Oven Cleaning franchises and solo operators. In the UK, they mainly provide oven cleaning and grill gleaning as a side service while it may be the opposite in Australia where grill cleaning is a primary service while oven cleaning is a secondary service. Here in the US, grill cleaning would be the primary service and oven cleaning a secondary service (if even offered).

At some point, grill cleaning came to the US. I know when I was doing my research, I found a couple of grill cleaning companies listed on the Secretary of State business directory with formation dates dating back to 2000. They had since gone our of business by the time I started.

They were ahead of their time I guess?
