If you paid a significant amount of money for your grill, even if that’s $500, you would consider that an investment. Most people who pay to clean their grill will invest roughly $3,500 on their grill. They want to protect their investment!
This is one of the first questions I asked when I was researching this business. In my area there wasn’t anyone cleaning grills except for one guy in a smaller town a few hrs south of me. When no one is offering this type of service its natural to wonder why? Is nobody doing this because there isn’t a need for this service or am I just the first one to bring grill cleaning to this market?
In my case, I was the first to bring this service to my area. But, there was still the question “Why would someone pay to have their grill cleaned?” My answer to you is – “Because you don’t know the outdoor grill market and the type of people that purchase the high end grills”.
I know that’s a snarky answer but it’s an honest and accurate answer.
In order to know why someone would pay for your service you need to know what type of grills are being purchased.
Your target market are the people who buy grills like Alfresco, DCS, Viking, Wolf, Lynx, Fire Magic and others. These are all high end grills and the consumers who purchase these grills either DO NOT or WILL NOT clean them themselves.
Here is a small sampling of high end grills and how much they cost – I went on the high end just so you can see how expensive these grills can get.
As you can see some of these grills can cost upwards to $12 to $13,000 and in the case of a Kalamazoo (they don’t advertise pricing on line – if you have to ask it’s too expensive) which is considered the top luxury brand can far exceed $20,000.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you must only target customers who own luxury grills, I’m only opening your eyes to the fact that there are grills out there that people are purchasing that may cost several thousand dollars – the outdoor market is a multi-BILLION dollar market!
When someone purchases this type of grill they don’t always purchase based on price. Some will purchase on the look, size, accessories or the just the brand name alone. Initially, when they purchase a grill like this they feel like the king of the world but ultimately, like everything else it will get dirty and they will make a decision if they want to clean it themselves or have someone do it for them.
